Torrent applications never could make it to the iOS store because of obvious reasons but torrent applications have hit the third party app store, AltStore PAL. This app store is now available to the EU users due to the local laws there.
Torrent applications for iPad and iPhone.
- iTorrent – standalone client
- qBittorrent – remote client for desktop and bitcoin client.
Both of these now allow users to seed and download content using torrent protocol. Apple had previously banned iTorrent and qBittorrent from making their way to the AppStore with Apple saying both of these apps were infringing 3rd party rights. Who is going to tell them that you can download perfectly legal content using torrent protocol.
AltStore PAL is available only the European Union thanks to their new Digital Markets Act that forced Apple to allow 3rd party application stores in all EU countries.
AltStore PAL is accepting all sorts of apps that could not be offered earlier. This also means that there is no need to jailbreak their iPhone or iPad just to run torrenting applications.
