Rumors are brewing that the Foxconn is going to start the production of the foldable version of iPhone in the 3rd or 4th quarter of 2025. This will be direct competitor to the Samsung foldable phone, Galaxy Fold series.

Final component specifications are still yet to be finalized but the display is rear ready. Samsung will be the one supplying around 8 million panel stores the manufacture with Apple expected to have 15-20 million units up for sale.
There is a lot of failure rate with the Samsung Fold series and since Samsung will be supplying the display to the Apple’s manufactures, it will be interesting to see how well the foldable phones fare up with the Apple ecosystem. It will also likely mark the end of smaller iPad 8.9
We have also come to know that the foldable iPhone will have 4.5mm thickness with 9mm total thickness.
Like the current generation of Samsung fold, the hinge will be strong and sturdy and there would not be big visible crease when it is opened. The display would measure around 7.8-inches when opened and around 5.5″ when folded.
