Samsung phones get Apple AirDrop

For years, Apple users had one feature Android fans secretly envied: AirDrop. It was fast, simple, and made sending photos, videos, and files between Apple devices effortless. If you owned an iPhone, iPad, or MacBook, AirDrop felt like magic.

Now Samsung is changing the game.

The company has introduced AirDrop-style sharing support through Quick Share on the new Galaxy S26 lineup. This means Galaxy users can now send files more easily to Apple devices, including iPhones, iPads, and Macs — removing one of the biggest barriers between the two ecosystems.

That’s a huge shift.

For years, moving files between Android and Apple devices usually meant using email, messaging apps, cloud storage, or third-party tools. It worked, but never felt seamless. Samsung’s latest update brings a more direct and native-style experience.

The rollout reportedly started in South Korea and is expected to expand to more regions including North America, Europe, and Asia. Samsung also says support may reach more Galaxy devices later, beyond the S26 series.

For iPad users, this matters more than it seems.

Many people use an iPad alongside a Samsung phone, Windows PC, or mixed-device setup. Cross-platform sharing has always been frustrating. If Samsung’s implementation works smoothly, it could make the iPad far easier to use in non-Apple households.

Apple’s ecosystem advantage has always been convenience.

Now competitors are starting to copy the best parts of it — and in some cases, improve them.

The real winner here is the user. Less friction, faster sharing, and fewer cables is something everyone can appreciate.
