Airprint was one of the features that were introduced in the iOS 4.2 update which allows you to wirelessly print to the printers with wireless capability. We have been getting a fairly large requests for Airprint setup tutorial, so here is one:
First of all, you will require a printer that supports Airprint. I am only aware of HP wireless printers and here are few. Note that the list is growing every day since iPad is now on the verge of replacing main computers. However, please keep in mind that support for network printing is still in the tunnel and is not available in any iOS 4.x firmware.
* HP Envy eAll-in-One series (D410a)
* HP Photosmart Plus e-AiO (B210a)
* HP Photosmart e-AiO (D110)
* HP Photosmart Wireless e-AiO (B110)
* HP Photosmart Premium e-AiO (C310a)
* HP Photosmart Premium Fax e-AiO (C410a)
* HP Photosmart eStation (C510)
Second, you will require an iPad / iPad 2 running iOS 4.3 or later. There is no need to jailbreak one. So, how do you start printing? Well, out of the box, Safari, photos, mail and some other apps support it. To print, simply tap the share button (looks like envelope) and select ‘print’ from the pop up menu.
Now, from the popup menu, select the printer and your iPad will search for the wireless printers on available on the network. Select your printer to start the print. You can also do several customization under "Printer Options" such as how many copies do you wish to print. That is it!
