Redsnow / Redsn0w is a utility that is used in performing iPad jailbreak to patch the firmware, allowing the users to install Cydia. During the jailbreak process, the iPad enters into DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) mode.
Cydia is a very popular third party app installer and allows the user to add themes, tweaks and homebrew apps that are not available or could not make it to the appstore.
